How paths are matched
The matcher scores eight transition paths against three inputs: your current role type, your experience band, and the skills you already hold. Each path has a preferred skill profile, a typical timeline, a before-and-after salary range, and a sequence of steps. Your selections are compared with those profiles, and the three strongest overlaps are returned with the reason they matched and one concrete action for this week.
Reading your three results
A high match means your existing skills shorten the ramp, not that the job will be easy to land. Read the overlap line first, then the timeline: a six-month path and an eighteen-month path are different commitments even when they score similarly. If two paths are close, choose by the daily work you would rather do, not by the salary range alone. The full career paths page shows what each role actually involves before you invest in a course.
What the matcher cannot know
Salary ranges are US-market planning estimates, and local demand, licensing, and your network can change the picture substantially. The skill list is a simplification; a tick means you have some experience, not that you can show a portfolio. The matcher cannot assess your financial buffer, your tolerance for a temporary pay cut, or whether a hiring manager will value your background. Use the result to shortlist, then test the shortlist with real conversations and the Transition Cost & Payback Calculator.
