What the twelve checks cover
Twelve statements describe the business side of freelancing: a recent portfolio, a clear niche, pricing that covers costs and tax, written contracts, a working AI tool chain, bookkeeping, two or more client-acquisition channels, time boundaries, a weekly learning habit, an emergency fund, insurance, and public visibility. Tick what is already true, and the page scores readiness, names the three largest gaps, and suggests actions.
Reading your readiness
The score is a map of missing foundations rather than a measure of talent. A high score does not guarantee clients, and a low score is normal in the first year. Fix the gaps in order of consequence: contracts and pricing protect you before marketing does, and an emergency fund buys the time to find better clients. If you are still choosing what to sell, start with the Side Hustle AI Revenue Matcher and come back once you have a direction.
What the score cannot verify
It cannot judge whether your contract is enforceable, whether your insurance covers your actual work, or whether your rates are right for your market. Tax rules, registration thresholds, and liability norms differ by country and profession, and the checklist uses general language for that reason. It also relies on self-report, so an honest tick is more useful than a flattering one. Treat the result as an audit prompt, not a certification.
