How the range is built

Enter your current salary, a market median for the target role — chosen from the list or typed yourself — years of relevant experience, a performance rating, and an AI skill level. The floor starts from the median and adjusts for experience. The midpoint applies the performance rating to the median, and the ceiling adds an AI-skill premium. The page also shows the gap to your current pay, four talking points, and two scripts you can copy.

Using the range in conversation

The midpoint is an anchor, not a demand. Open near the floor if you expect resistance, and treat the ceiling as the number you can justify with evidence rather than the number you blurt out first. If your current salary already sits above the ceiling, the negative gap is information about your situation, not a failure. Prepare one or two quantified wins before the conversation. The AI Interview Question Bank can help you rehearse the stories behind them.

What the range cannot account for

The median may be stale, and it cannot reflect your city, company size, equity, bonus structure, or remote policy. Performance and AI skill are self-assigned, so the output is only as honest as the inputs. Salary conversations also depend on timing, internal equity, and budget cycles that no calculator can see. The result is illustrative; it does not guarantee any offer or outcome, and it is not financial advice.
