What the self-check asks

Ten statements ask how often, over the past two weeks, worry about AI has affected sleep, concentration, avoidance of work email, comparison with colleagues, and your sense of control. You answer on a four-step frequency scale, from never or rarely to nearly every day. The total places you in one of three bands — low, moderate, or high worry — and the page then offers five exercises suited to that band, from box breathing to a daily information fast.

A low score does not mean the topic can be ignored; it usually means the worry is still a usable signal rather than a burden. A high score means the anxiety is interfering with ordinary functioning, and the exercises are first aid, not treatment. Pick one exercise and use it for a week instead of trying all five at once. The companion guide on coping with AI career anxiety explains why uncertainty feels threatening and how to separate a real risk from a rehearsed worst case.

What this check is not

It is not a clinical instrument and it does not diagnose anything. The questions were written for workplace worry, not for depression, panic disorder, or other conditions. A two-week window can also miss patterns that come and go with company announcements. If sleep loss, low mood, or dread persists beyond a few weeks, speak to a qualified mental health professional; the score is simply a prompt for reflection.
